Ripples of Change

Vaidas Sukys, Ron Acedillo, and Sandeep Kaul successfully rowed their way down the Pasig River from the harbor near Brgy. Pineda along the stretch of Makati Park using their improvised boat made from thousands of used plastic bottles and fishing net. As they approached the riverside dock, spectators read the message written on their sail, the point they want to deliver to the public—“Say No To Pollution”. From the sidelines, their fellow AIM students were there show support. Pasig residents were also in attendance, where a few even had the chance to ride the plastic boat. It also drew interest to the locals from the nearby community, and media to cover the remarkable activity.

Vaidas, Ron, and Sandeep donated the boat to the Pasig River Rehabilitation Program. The Government of the City of Pasig supports this project, and is planning to create replicas of the boat for mass cleaning purposes.
