AIM Among Top 100 B-Schools

NEW YORK, New York -- The Asian Institute of Management (AIM) ranked among the Top 100 business schools anew in the Aspen Institute’s 2009-2010 edition of Beyond Grey Pinstripes, a biennial survey and alternative ranking of business schools.

According to the New York-based Aspen Institute, “AIM has demonstrated significant leadership in integrating social, environmental, and ethical issues into its MBA program.” AIM has consistently made the Top 100 ranking since the survey was started in 2001.

“AIM is honored to be included in the roster of these innovative management schools,” said AIM president Edilberto de Jesus. “Since its establishment in 1968, AIM’s mission has been to make a difference in sustaining the growth of Asian societies by developing professional, entrepreneurial, and socially responsible leaders and managers for Asia’s developing and developed economies.”

“In these challenging economic times, the general public are questioning whether the established models of business are broken,” said Rich Leimsider, director of the Aspen Institute’s Center for Business Education.

“Beyond Grey Pinstripes schools are thoughtfully pursuing new approaches. They are preparing students who take a more holistic view of business success, one that measures financial results as well as social environmental impacts,” Leimsider explained.

According to de Jesus, “In the context of Asia’s rapid economic growth alongside poverty and rising inequality, AIM has a responsibility to produce managers who possess integrity and high ethical standards, and who will endeavor to humanize the corporation, understand the ethical implications of management decisions, and feel personal responsibility for the communities wherein they cooperate.”

AIM is a premier graduate school of business and management in Asia, offering graduate education that has molded Asia’s business, development, and entrepreneurial leaders and managers for 41 years. The Institute was established in 1968 in partnership with Harvard Business School, the Ford Foundation, and visionaries of the Asian academic and business communities.

The Makati-based institution offers unique educational opportunities and cross-cultural experiences to citizens from developing and developed economies. It has over 37,000 alumni in more than 70 countries.

I expected a much better ranking for AIM, given its pedigree, quality of teaching/research etc.

AIM should and very well can aspire to be the best (No. 1) in Asia (ex-Aus. ,NZ,) and among the best in the world.

Hope this is soon a reality.
