As working professionals, we’ve realized that there is a need to take responsibility for the actions of the community that affects our environment. The popular brand, ‘Body Shop’ has created a niche for itself as a complete CSR corporate giant. IBM advertises heavily about the Green technology it uses. Harvard Business School has been successful in establishing itself as a pioneer in making an eco-friendly campus.
It is believed that the power of the Youth is to create change. We think there is no other place to start, but, amongst the students. In line with this, the AIM – Student Association presents AIM Green. AIM Green aligns its goals with the AIM Environment Management System (EMS), being the first graduate school of management in the world with ISO 14001 Certification for its Environmental Management System. The vision of AIM Green is to set a high bar and make the Institute the Greenest campus. Our endeavor is to save our scarce resources. The core work areas of the team are:
* Paper Management – Limiting paper waste. Usage of recycled paper.
* Power Management– Limiting the wastage of electricity in dorms, lobbies, classrooms etc.
* Waste Management– Replacing plastic bags, Styrofoam and cutting down on other kinds of waste.
* Water management–Limiting wastage of water in campus.
The AIM Green Team is partnered and fully supported by the EMS (Environment Management Services), our founder Ms. Cristine Hontanosa (MBM 1995) from HBS, our mentor Prof. Milagros D. Lagrosa and various AIM Faculty members. Our Green Ambassadors are Prof. Matthew G. Escobido and Prof. Thomas Alexander.
“Online cases make us flexible. Based on my customer demand, I can change case material at short notice. We’ll save trees by not printing cases. This will help the students to store case material for the rest of your career. ”
- Prof. Thomas Alexander
The AIM Green Team is a platform which increases sensitivity to the non-market variables. It asks ‘How your actions and decisions affect forces that indirectly affect us?’ We NEVER care about ACs and lights left switched-on while nobody is the room. Ironically, we see it as a “Moral Hazard” on our part to use our scarce resources so carelessly for 24-hours a day claiming we paid our bills.
The AIM Green Team is a platform whereby the students, faculty and other people associated with AIM take pride in making a difference for the enthusiasm and love we have for our environment.
